Mark Collins obtained a $1.5 million medical malpractice verdict against a trauma doctor for failing to properly treat a severely broken leg. The doctor misaligned a broken femur and failed to surgically correct the broken lower leg, resulting in repetitive operations. The victim eventually needed a hip replacement and knee reconstruction, all of which could have been avoided had the doctor given the appropriate medical care. Mr. Collins was able to show that the doctor was not qualified to cover trauma, had not kept current in his continuing medical education, and was untrained in the use of the surgical instruments used in the initial operation.
